Student Life
Students
live intensely at Loomis Chaffee. From breakfast in the dining hall to
late nights in the dormitories, they partake of the school's rich
assortment of opportunities and experiences. While there is no mold
into which every student is expected to fit, there is a shared desire
to achieve at the highest level.
Weekdays are packed with
events. The class day begins at 8:10 in each of the academic year's
three terms. Afternoons and evenings find students at athletic
practices or club meetings, doing homework, library study sessions,
meetings with advisers and teachers. Classes are held every other
Saturday morning and athletic contests highlight Saturday afternoons.
Throughout their days at Loomis, students form strong friendships with
classmates and teachers. The days are so full that students barely have
time to notice their growing maturity.
The school is dedicated
to cultivating independent minds in a challenging intellectual
environment. Excellence is a way of life for Loomis students, from
their accomplishments and those of their peers to the knowledge and
commitment of the faculty.
